My most recent collection of poetry in Maltese, Klin u Kapriċċi Oħra (Klabb Kotba Maltin 2015), is being translated into English by Albert Gatt. The poems will be published in a book, Last-ditch Ecstasy, published by Midsea Books in early 2017. These English translations will also be used as subtitles in the Youtube videos of my poetry read at the launch of Klin u Kapriċċi Oħra in September 2015. This project is supported by Arts Council Malta – Cultural Export Fund. It would not have been possible to embark on this project without these public funds.
Albert Gatt, an internationally acclaimed linguist, is an excellent literary translator who has worked on some of the most representative works of contemporary Maltese literature but also on a great classic like Ulied in-Nanna Venut fl-Amerka. He is the translator, among others, of Immanuel Mifsud’s acclaimed work, Fl-Isem tal-Missier (u tal-Iben), In the Name of the Father (Midsea Books) which was awarded the European Union Prize for Literature. He is also the co-editor of two collections of literary translations in Maltese, Klijenti Antipatiċi u Kappuċċini Kesħin and Għaraq Xort’Oħra, both published by Inizjamed.
